Petra's Model
Petra's model for serving is Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Mark that even the Son of Man came not to be served by to serve others. Jesus teaches principles like “the first will be last” and “deny yourself and take up your cross daily.” These principles reflect a lifestyle focused on others.

More About The Team
Julius Kenyamanyara
Lead Pastor
Julius and his late wife, Jade, embarked on a faith journey in Tanzania in 2012 as Global Workers with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Making a difference in the lives of God's people became their shared commitment.
Julius firmly believes that the church is a cornerstone in delivering genuine hope to individuals and communities. His unwavering faith has been a guiding light throughout his mission.
Petra is a dream that both Julius and Jade truly cherished and that has come to pass. They envisioned an urban church characterized by inclusivity, welcoming people of all ages and cultures to worship.
Julius is also very passionate about nurturing the potential of children and youth, particularly the most vulnerable. He serves as the Director of Village of Hope Tanzania, an organization that strives to bring hope to vulnerable children through education, shelter, healthcare, nutrition, and discipleship.
Julius and his three boys consider Mwanza their home.
Laura Kelly
Associate Pastor
Laura grew up across the world in New Brunswick, Canada. Most of her family still lives there, including 4 siblings and 7 nieces and nephews. Thankfully, her youngest sister only lives a quick flight away in Kenya.
Laura moved to Mwanza in November 2018 to launch a girls’ health project with Emmanuel International Canada.
Laura has been with Petra since the beginning, officially beginning her role as Director of Next Gen in 2021. Her responsibilities include: planning the Sunday Morning Experiences, leading Next Gen, assisting with Petra Kids, and preaching.
Living in another culture is full of ups and downs, but Laura feels this is where God wants her right now.
